Cupro is a new sustainable fabric that comes from recycled cotton or cellulose. Tiny silky fibers stick to the cotton seeds after textile production. Instead of throwing out leftover material, producing cupro makes it possible to use a more significant percentage of the cotton – making the fabric eco-friendly. The name comes from the cuprammonium compound used in the technical regeneration of fibers. It is a technical fabric made from the all-natural cotton plant. Cupro is a natural by-product of cotton.

The Production Process of Cupro
It is a great alternative as a sustainable fabric, but production can include copper, ammonia, and caustic soda, which can be toxic when mishandled. Cupro can be harmful to the environment if not produced correctly. It is neither natural nor synthetic. It comes from a natural source but later changes through the chemical process of production. The production process is as follows; cotton cellulose fibers are exposed to ammonium and copper. The cellulose is combined with caustic soda and then bathed. The result is cupro fabric.

It is as a rayon fabric that comes from cotton cellulose, chemical components, and a spinning process. The soft fiber is highly durable and very similar to lyocell and tencel. Similar to silk in texture, it is perfect for people with allergies and will not cause skin allergies commonly caused by acrylic and polyester fabrics. It is ideal for sensitive skin types. Cupro is antistatic, meaning it does not produce static electricity commonly generated by synthetic fiber fabrics. Caring for Cupro Fabric
When purchasing a garment made from cupro, it is crucial to understand how to wash cupro fabric. We recommend to hand wash cupro fabric garments since they tend to be delicate. You should hand-wash it with a gentle detergent and set to air dry. If you want to machine wash, set the coldest temperature and lowest spin setting. When the cycle is complete, hang to dry. Avoid the drying machine altogether. The high temperatures could cause significant damage. Attempt to wash your cupro garments as least as possible, since consistent washing could also lead to fabric damage. After each use, hang the clothing by itself and allow it to air dry in a ventilated area. Only wash the garment only after it has been used multiple times.
You can iron your Cupro garments if desired. Like any other fabric, cupro can become wrinkled. Use the lowest temperature setting and be very gentle. Handle the garments with care. Steaming is suggested over ironing, as it causes less damage. Use a steamer a few inches away from the clothing and allow the heat to dissolve the wrinkles.
